Summer is officially just a few weeks away!  Time to bring out your sandals, swimsuits and cotton dresses–oh, and your summer makeup.  Like every aspect of your personal style, summer makeup tends to be lighter, fresher, and easier to wear in hot weather.  Here are some excellent summer makeup tips to help you stay glamourous, even when the days heat up!

1.  Sunscreen!

Summer means spending more time outdoors, which means exposing your delicate skin to the rays of the sun.  That means you need to protect your skin for today and for the future.  Use a good sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF.  You can even use a tinted sunscreen which works as both a foundation and a protection from UV rays.  My favorite:  LORAC ProtecTINT.

2.  Waterproof Mascara

Whether you’re headed to the pool or on a boating trip, you never know when you will feel the need to jump into the water and cool off.  When you do, you want to be sure your face stays in tact.  Nothing ruins a summer look quicker than raccoon-eyes!  Use a waterproof mascara to keep your eyes bright and beautiful even when you’re surfing the waves.  My favorite:  Urban Decay Big Fatty Waterproof Mascara.

3.  Bronzer

Everyone loves the sun-kissed look in the summer, but we all know how dangerous it is to bake our skin in the sun’s ultra-violet rays.  That’s why bronzers were invented!  You can dust a sweet, gentle bronze powder on your cheekbones and nose–and voila!  You look like you’ve spent the day in the sun–without the dry skin and redness!  My favorite:  Laura Geller Bronzer.

4.  Brighter colors

Summer is the time to wear corals, peaches and pinks–using them to highlight your natural beauty.  Try switching from lipstick to a pale, shimmery lipgloss; from a heavy liquid foundation to a mineral foundation which absorbs moisture; and from dark, dramatic eyeshadows to a pale, brightening shadow.  My favorite colors for summer:  Stila Silk Shimmer Lip Gloss, Bare Escentuals Mineral Foundation,   Bare Escenturals Glimmers Eyeshadows

Charlotte Ronson Grows Up: Fall 2009

Amanda | Fashion Designers | Monday, 18 May 2009

Charlotte Ronson’s young label has already gained a huge following, thanks in part to her famous siblings who have helped attract attention to her fresh, youthful designs.  But Ronson has honest-to-goodness skills, and her Fall 2009 is her most sophisticated line yet.  Reminiscent of the 1980’s, this year Ronson’s line features strong, structured shoulders and asymmetrical patterns.  Transcending her normal girlish aesthetic the Fall 2009 line is dark, urban and rock n’ roll.  Check out my favorite pieces from this collection:

Silvelox: the importance of exterior design

lucia | Exterior Design | Friday, 20 June 2008

Silvelox has created over the last 45 years collections of garage doors, entrance doors and double leaf doors combining passions for wood, research and innovation. Collections as personalised and detailed as fine carpentry, characterised by the perfect integration of security and technology.

TImber Garage Doors - Silvelox

Thanks to their devotion to quality, security and design,  in pursuit of perfection, Silvelox products have become well established and highly in demand for prestigious properties all over Europe.

Jason Plato choose Silvelox for his homeFor these reasons many VIPS have chosen Silvelox doors for their houses. Jason Plato, a major figure of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), says: “I’m a perfectionist, and the devil is in the detail – be that the instrumentation on a 200mph sports car or the precise location of a painting on a wall. Basically, I just love being around great design”.

So, as soon as he saw the Silvelox stand in an exhibition, his choice was made. “I’ve got a keen eye for good engineering and nice design, and Silvelox doors ticked all the boxes. They’re beautifully made, look fantastic and operate phenomenally well. Even from the inside of the garage, whether the doors are open or closed, they’re aesthetically pleasing.

Wooden Garage Doors, processing detail - SilveloxAs many builders and architects point out, there is a tendency now to spend much time and thought on the exterior look of the property, and Silvelox is always exploring new and exciting ways that its products can be used to radically redefine the boundaries of exterior design. The new W_concept platform is a fine example of this.

Developed by Silvelox’ Research & Development team, in association with award-winning Milan architects Buratti+Battiston, W_Concept involves cladding an area of the exterior in solid wood, then incorporating the garage door and main entrance door seamlessly into the design.

Samsonite Luggage Sets

Samsonite Logo

Samsonite

Ever since the beginning of the twentieth century, back in 1910 when it was founded, the Samsonite brand
icon
has created a tradition of innovative and high quality luggage products. Even though nowadays it seems natural to carry your stuff around in any type of travel in a fancy luggage set, it was not quite so back in the first years. However, Samsonite managed to create durable pieces with amazing designs, mixing usefulness with fashion. Furthermore, Samsonite managed to anticipate and fulfill the requirements of travelers of all times and thus created some “firsts” in the area. They were in fact the ones to create the first matching luggage sets, the first lightweight luggage and the first wheeled suitcases. It is no wonder then that Samsonite soon became one of the worlds most highly regarded premium lifestyle travel brands. Just a few years ago, as the turn of the century asked for new ways in matters of fashion and even luggage designs, Samsonite came out with a new approach to sales and offers for it customers. Thus, we now have Lambertson Truex and Samsonite Black Label brands, for luxury clients and consequently higher budgets but also the American Tourister, a brand especially designed for regular people, according to their needs and finances. Even since the beginning of their “journey” in the American market and currently on the worldwide one, the Samsonite products have been often appreciated for their large variety. Whenever you need a luggage to use, you should first think of Samsonite and you will most shortly find what you need. This is in fact what the manufacturers also had in mind when creating the well known Samsonite sets. You have the entire luggage you need in a matching set, with a specific theme, according to your tastes and outfits.

Samsonite Silhouette 10 Series

To take only a few of the numerous examples, here’s the Samsonite Silhouette 10 Series
icon
, introduced a few years ago which was most appreciated for its almost perfect interior and exterior design. It has three zippered pockets and a removable toiletry kit and it is also available in a hard side version. Then, there is the innovative Spinner Line
icon
of luggage which has four wheels instead of two and enables its users to “spin” 360-degrees on an axis. As tests have proven, these types of luggage are a lot easier to handle and although they add a certain weight to the bag, they are still not that heavy on the travelers’ backs.
